The 2010 ATV Rider Magazine MX Pro Class Experiment

 

Since the inception of the ATV specific magazines, a standard formula has been employed when it comes to project quads, or builds. The formula generally consists of building something pretty, and telling the readers that it’s the greatest machine known the man, and in the case of sport quads, how it’s “Pro Caliber”, or “Pro Class Ready.” ATV Rider Magazine is attempting to change things, and go where no ATV magazine has gone before; in 2010 we’ll be kicking off the “ATV Rider Magazine MX Pro Class Experiment.” The premise is simple; we’ll be taking the current crop of 450 sport quads, and with the help of Pro ATV MX Racer Keith Little, (as well as Big Gun Exhaust, ITP Tires, Pro Armor, plus a handful of associate sponsors) we’ll transform the machines into legit Pro Class ready rides. In order to put our money where our mouth is, Keith will race them at the highest level of ATV MX competition in the world, the 2010 ATV MX schedule (which can be viewed below).

 

We’ll track the builds, stalk Keith at the races, and milk this thing for all it’s worth. Starting with online teasers of the machine builds in progress. The ATV Rider print coverage will be split into four issues during 2010 starting with rounds 1-2 in July/August issue, rounds 3-6 in the September/October issue, and rounds 7-11 in the November/December issue. The machines will get a second wave of press via ATV Rider Online where they’ll also receive expanded coverage, video, and bonus photo galleries. The last of the coverage will come by way of a machine comparison in which our editors, and test riders alike will take the machines through their paces at a Southeastern MX facility (TBD).
